Car Design and legal standards in CATIA
CAVA helps to validate the compliance of your vehicle design and architecture to international rules, norms and standards during the entire design process. “CATIA – Automotive Extensions Vehicle Architecture” (CAVA) came as a result of a joint project by TECHNIA and several German car manufacturers. International rules, norms and standards are provided during the entire design process – from the concept phase to the homologation. CAVA is a feature-based and associative technology integrated with CATIA V5 and V6.
'Overall Vehicle Architecture' for defining vehicle parameters, such as dimensions, seat positions, etc.
Two-dimensional test dummy for use in determining the various passenger positions.
Simulate the geometry of the wipers and determine the wiped area on the windscreen.
A collection of CAVA functions available in the CAVA All bundle but in none of the single products.
CAVA Bundle including all of the above applications.
Throughout the development stage, new car designs must comply with legislation and guidelines in the countries where they are licensed. In a joint venture with German car manufacturers, TECHNIA has developed a solution to help validate the compliance of your product design.
CAVA provides a set of legal standards and guidelines for vehicle concept and design as features directly within the CAD System. First, CAVA creates a reference geometry representing design space, clearance areas, or required fields of vision as defined in the established standards. Secondly, any existing or new design geometry can be verified against these reference geometries.
The CAVA community worked with TECHNIA to create a standard application that can be used by OEMs in conjunction with their suppliers.
The CAVA architecture and feature technology supports the entire process chain, including the reuse and modification of CAVA data created by the embedded supply chain.
